What about the policing response?

11 April, 2019

• ONCE upon a time Chris Fagg, chair of the Gospel Oak Safer Neighbourhood Panel, used to remind us that crime in the Gospel Oak area had been kept under control with the help of the Safer Neighbourhoods Team, (Locking up young people won’t help, April 4).

Now he paints a picture of a dysfunctional multi-cultural society where street violence has spiralled out of control. I agree with his suggestion that the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 is no longer fit for purpose.

Interestingly he has nothing to say in terms of a “policing response”, only to sympathise with Metropolitan police Commissioner Cressida Dick’s poor excuses.

Five random stab attacks occurred in the same area of Edmonton over a period of four days from March 30. If this happened in New York the NYPD would have apprehended the offender before the third attack.
