POLICE have revealed that around 1,000 cannabis plants were found inside a West Hampstead home last week.
A suspected gas leak brought emergency services to Somali Road last Tuesday after residents reported a strong smell of gas in the area.
But the incident took a dramatic turn when officers from the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police knocked down the door of an unoccupied property on the street and found what was described by officers as a “large cannabis farm”.

Neighbours told the New Journal the house had been empty for 18 months but reported that in recent months corrugated iron shutters had been installed in some of the windows.
A police investigation is still ongoing.
