COUNCIL leader Georgia Gould and Conservative local government secretary Sajid Javid came face to face over Camden’s evacuation crisis this week. Mr Javid has been critical of fire safety issues at the Chalcots estate – where 4,000 people were moved from their homes – but has been warned by Labour councillors not to try and score political points.
After Mr Javid delivered a speech at the Local Government Association conference in London on Tuesday, Cllr Gould was picked from the audience to ask a question and called for national government and all political parties to work together with the council. Mr Javid said he welcomed Camden’s plans to hold an independent review of the issues at the Chalcots.
