The staff and friends of the community library deserve full support

• WHAT a lovely surprise to come across Belsize Community Library after I took the “wrong” turning off Haverstock Hill.
The library is housed in a beautiful building and the staff, who fought to keep it open, are knowledgeable and very welcoming.
I was impressed with the well-stocked children’s section (I’m a children’s author) and the quality of events planned, from literary walks to talks with local authors and art activities.
So I was bemused to read Anita Brooks’s letter (Philistinism! March 9) as it doesn’t seem to be based on reality.
The staff and friends of Belsize Park Community Library deserve everybody’s thanks and support.
I’m sure they will welcome Ms Brooks with kindness should she decide to attend any of their interesting and varied cultural and social events.
