The council’s health and housing needs points system is not fit for purpose

07 June, 2018

• WHY does Camden’s health and housing points system exist? It’s not fit for purpose.

My relative is trying to move out of a cold, damp flat which also has noise problems. This a 72-year-old with various health conditions. These should qualify her for 500 points to be able to bid for a more suitable property.

Twice I have tried to appeal on her behalf but been told she does not qualify. Camden wrongly said I had missed a 21-day deadline. Shelter have been involved and were told something else.

The same thing happened some years ago. My mother had cancer but only got the points five months down the line after going public. She died weeks later.

Who is getting these points? It seems it’s not the genuine people.
