FUNNYMAN Ricky Gervais and children’s author Jane Fallon were guests of honour at Burgh House at an event that raised £4,000 during a charity auction.

Mr Gervais was joined by Ms Fallon, actor Peter Egan, Georgia Slowe, Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg and Angela and Martin Humphrey at the recent All Dogs Matter event. Lots included a painting of Joanna Lumley as an Afghan Hound by Caroline Sykes. Rabbi Wittenberg read from his new book, Things My Dog Has Taught Me, while the Haywood Sisters trio provided music.

Burgh House general manager Ira Mos said the evening was “really good” and a complete sell-out, adding: “We raised over £4,000!” All Dogs Matter is holding a “Santa Paws” event this Sunday at the Garden Gate pub in Hampstead. There will be 20 stalls with gifts for dogs and their owners, as well as carollers, mulled wine, mince pies and even a grotto, with Dogstar Photo taking festive “pawtraits”.
