Police say ‘problem vessel’ has been removed from Camden Town canal

Boat seized after reports of nuisance behaviour

28 November, 2017

POLICE in Camden Town say they have helped deal with a ‘problem vessel’ moored in Camden Town after complaints of nuisance behaviour.

Officers were on the towpath near Gloucester Avenue this morning (Tuesday) as a barge was removed from the water. The Canals and Rivers Trust had secured a court order to seize the boat following complaints of “cannabis smoking, loud music, fights and catcalling”.

Police units in Camden Town said: “We went along to assist by preventing any breach of the peace. Fortunately we weren’t needed and the boat was empty – whether from the advanced warning of enforcement or not we don’t know. We’ll always help our partners out where we can to achieve the best result for residents.”
