DETECTIVES have released CCTV footage of a man they are searching for in relation to a burglary at a Holborn mosque.

Police said a suspect walked into the mosque in Brookes Court, Baldwin Gardens, and kicked open the door to an office on Christmas Eve last year.

Images captured on security cameras, released today, show a man pick up an Apple laptop and riffle through draws in search of cash. The building is also home to the Holborn Muslim Community Association.

The suspect, described as an Asian man in his mid-20s, then made off on a pushbike and cycled towards Islington, police said.

A Met spokesman said: “He was wearing a red jacket, a red cap and black jeans. He was also carrying two black rucksacks.”

Detective Constable Mark Pinder, from Camden CID, said: “The owners of the mosque were disheartened to see the damage to their office and theft of their property

“We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to him about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.”

Anyone with information or any witnesses are urged to call Central North CID on 020 8345 0119 or by tweeting @MetCC
