The scene in Churchway, Somers Town this afternoon

A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill after the emergency services descended on Somers Town in what became an almost four-hour operation.

Officers had attended the address in Churchway, near Euston station, just before midday after allegations of threatening behaviour were made but on arrival the woman is said to have threatened officers and intimated she may self-harm.

Reenforcements were called and the road was sealed off to the public as dozens of police officers, paramedics and firefighters gathered around the housing block.

Emergency vehicles at the scene

Eye-witnesses counted at least four Territorial Support Group (TSG) vehicles, 10 police cars and vans, four ambulances and two fire appliances on the scene.

Earlier on in the incident officers with protective equipment and riot shields were seen.

The incident came to a close just after 3pm after the woman had been taken away from the flat.

Met Police said in a statement: “Officers spoke to the female in order to bring the situation to a successful resolution.

“She left the address shortly before 15:10hrs and was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.”
