Please help yourself: A boar’s head

Passers-by get a shock by mounted animal head on pavement

30 November, 2017 — By Geoffrey Sawyer

A POST-IT note with the words “please take” is often spotted outside homes where people are moving out, often a quick way to shift unwanted tables and chairs.

But there was a giveaway with a difference on Tuesday when a mounted boar’s head appeared on the pavement in Primrose Gardens, Belsize Park, leading to a string of “only in north London” comments. The unusual item soon disappeared – presumably claimed by a passer-by – but not before it had given one or two people a fright.

“It made me yelp when I walked past and noticed it,” said Conservative councillor Claire-Louise Leyland, who took this picture.
