Playboys pleased to pocket the points
10 November, 2017 — By Steve Barnett
THE Peckwater Playboys put their title credentials on show on Monday night when they had to come from behind to pocket the points after initially letting a commanding lead slip against Golden Lion.
The Playboys looked to have thrown away their advantage at the top of Division Two when they went from leading Golden Lion 3-1 to losing 4-3 in a topsy-turvy match held at their home table in Kentish Town.
However, showing tremendous calm and composure, Nicholas McKenna potted a thin, very missable, cut on the black to level the scores.
The game rested on a clash of the captains.
Golden Lion skipper Aaron Gourlay misjudged his attempted containing safety, giving his opposite number, Paul Smith, two shots – which he took full advantage of to chalk up a hard fought 5-4 victory.
The result leaves the Playboys six points clear of Cousins Zombies, who ran out 5-4 victors against Boston Knights.
Meanwhile there was a massive shock in the top flight as leaders Boston Arms lost 5-4 against struggling stablemates Boston Old Skool.
