Partnership working is crucial at the Greenwood Centre

07 March, 2019

• THE report in the New Journal accurately describes many of the services in the new Camden Council built Greenwood Centre in Kentish Town, but doesn’t do justice to all the partnership working, (Camden opens £17 million Greenwood Centre, February 28).

Camden Disability Action, which is leading the Camden Centre for Independent Living (CIL), is working in partnership with the mental health and learning disability day centres in Greenwood, and has wider alliances with Elfrida Rathbone Camden, The Camden Society, Camden Carers Centre, Personalisation Support in Camden, and Age UK Camden to name but a few.

CDA will be using the wonderful Greenwood / CIL facilities, developing new services with and for disabled people and renting out CIL spaces.

We also need volunteers to work alongside our staff and trustee team, the majority of whom are disabled; more details are at www.camdendisabilityaction.org.uk. Our partner day centres, run by the council and the Camden and Islington mental health trust have “first refusal” on the arts, IT and music rooms.

There are no “shoe boxes” but there is an opportunity and a challenge to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts, and CDA relishes the challenge.
