MESUT Ozil insists that he “definitely” wants to stay at Arsenal, revealing that he will focus on contract negotiations when the club returns from their current pre-season tour of Australia.
The Germany international has one year left on his existing deal, sparking speculation that he will be heading for the Emirates exit this summer.
However the 28-year-old, who is set to feature in this weeks pre-season games against Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers, says that he really wants to stay in north London.
“It is definitely my preference to stay,” he said. “It is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.
“For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss the future.”
Ozil was one of six first-team players, including new signing Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud, who wore Arsenal’s new third-choice kit on Wednesday at a special launch by Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The dark grey strip with pink detailing will mainly be worn in away cup matches, and is part of a five-year deal that Arsenal have with Puma reportedly worth more than £170million.
