POLICE have reported a spike in Range Rover thefts and are warning all drivers to be on the lookout.

Range Rover thefts have doubled this month compared to the previous two months, according to the Met.

The most targeted areas include Cantelowes, Hampstead Town and Camden Town and Primrose Hill. Police are not linking the thefts and do not have a theory about the surge.

Inspector Dave Hodges of Central North Command said: “Our officers are aware of the recent increase in vehicle theft and are constantly on the lookout for anyone acting suspiciously both around vehicles and driving or towing them. We urge vehicle owners to be vigilant and consider all available security measures to help protect their vehicle against this type of theft.”

Last week the New Journal reported that Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper had become one of the latest victims after his Range Rover was pinched from outside his home in Primrose Hill.

The History Boys actor appealed to neighbours on a social media group to help find his car, leading to comments from other drivers who said they too had lost their Range Rovers to the thieves. Anyone who has information concerning the theft of vehicles is asked to contact police on 101.
