ARSENAL duo Leah Williamson and Beth Mead popped up on billboards in north London this week alongside messages of support for the England women’s national football team.
Celebrating the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which kicks off tomorrow (Friday), digital displays and posters featuring the 23 players in the Lionesses’ squad have gone up across the country, accompanied by supportive messages from their friends and family.
The quote featured alongside Mead in Finsbury Park is from her mum and dad.
It reads: “Dreams do come true, we are so proud of you, Bea. It’s your time to shine. Good luck!”
Defender Williamson’s mum shared a heartfelt message on a billboard in Haringey, saying: “Continue to dream big and savour every moment, Leah. We are with you all the way.”
The Women’s World Cup runs until July 7, with the Lionesses playing their first game in France on Sunday against Scotland, kick-off 5pm (BST). All fixtures will be broadcast live on the BBC.
