Increase of fees for parking permits is extortionate and unjustified

• I AGREE that Camden Council’s increase in residents’ parking permits is both extortionate and unjustified.
Unless you are lucky enough to have a driveway, you do not have a say in the increased charges that Camden’s cabinet has unilaterally approved.
The increase for the smallest cubic capacity, effective October 2019, is 15 per cent, increasing again in April 2020 by a further 15 per cent.
So 30 per cent in six months. Is this to be a regular biannual cash cow? As the cc size increases, so does the cost of a permit. How do they get away with it?
If you live within the CA-Q area of NW2, it covers a very small total area of approximately 1.5miles in circumference.
Pay-and-display charges increase several times a year – now more expensive to park in Camden than Westminster!
It is high time that Camden gave a reduction in cost for residents’ parking permits to those of pensionable age.
There is no shortfall from parking income. The contrary; a massive profit surplus and no reason, except greed, to increase permit of parking of pay and display charges.
