In praise of Eleanor Botwright
11 January, 2018
• IF the impressive list of Eleanor Botwright’s remarkable achievements outlined in your story reporting on her MBE award (MBE for Eleanor, campaigner who gets things done, January 4) were not enough, Eleanor has worked tirelessly over the last five years to respond to funding reduction challenges that could have been a death knell for the Castlehaven Community Association.
She has managed to develop a strategy of adapting and exploiting the physical and staff assets of the association so as to put it in the position of becoming financially self-sustaining while, at the same time, remaining faithful to the ethos of it founders.
A new nursery, what sometimes seems a 24/7 football pitch, a horticultural hub and a growing on line presence evidence an amazing combination of foresight, imagination and determination.
