In Gospel Oak we are working on community cohesion events
06 July, 2017
• VOLUNTARY organisations and individuals in Gospel Oak are pressing on with their community cohesion events.
For the last four weeks non-Muslim residents have been attending iftars – the breaking of the fasts during Ramadan – at the Kentish Town Baitul Aman mosque in Weedington Road.
Events culminated at the weekend with the mosque working with QCCA, St Martins Church, the City Farm, Gospel Oak Action Link, and the Kentish Town Community Organisation to advertise and promote an exhibition which the mosque had arranged for the local community on Saturday and Sunday.
We reckon about 170 non-Muslims attended the events which were much appreciated and resulted in better understanding.
The overwhelming response was thanks for the genuine and warm welcome from all people at the mosque and, of course, enjoyment of the food. We will all be working together on further events to develop our community.
