Homes were flooded in Euston this morning (Friday) when a 16-inch water main burst in the early hours.

Firefighters were called to help people escape the flooded streets leading off Eversholt Street and Doric Way.

The fire brigade said four basement properties were flooded, with around 120 meters of the road submerged under half a metre of water. The brigade, which was called at 4am, helped to pump water away.

A Thames Water spokesman said: “We’re sorry for the disruption in and around Euston Station. This is due to a burst water main on Eversholt Street.

“We have engineers on site, who have stopped the flow of water and are now beginning to repair the pipe.

“There has been some flooding to Euston Station and we worked with Network Rail to clear this up as quickly as possible.”
