Get involved with Fairtrade Fortnight

18 February, 2021

The Camden Future Journal wrap

• I WAS delighted to read the CNJ in January which focused on Camden in 2030 and thinking about the world we want to see.

As part of this imagining I’d like to encourage everyone to support Fairtrade and purchase products marked as such.

The climate crises is happening now and many producers are at the forefront of the changes. Fairtrade supports them in farming sustainably and tackling the challenges of climate change.

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers.

By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices Fairtrade tackles the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminated against the most vulnerable.

By thinking about commodities we buy and use in Camden that are produced far away, such as tea, coffee, bananas, wine, olive oil etc, we can have a significant impact on the lives of others.

Fairtrade Fortnight starts on February 22. Sign up for the “Choose The World You Want Festival” at Fairtrade.org.uk

There’ll be discussions, music, art and entertainment from the global Fairtrade community. There are also special packs and programmes for schools.
