Fundraising appeal to help keep The Lamb alive

Holloway Road pub is among those facing a struggle to get through the winter months

27 November, 2020 — By Calum Fraser

A HOLLOWAY pub has launched an appeal for funds in a last-gasp bid to save it from going under as it was announced that London will go into Tier 2 restrictions.

The Lamb, in Holloway Road, could be serving its very last orders unless it manages to raise enough money to see it through the winter months with little to no income over the counter.

Tier 2 measures will come into effect on Wednesday, which means shops, gyms, hairdressers and personal care businesses can all reopen but venues like pubs will have an 11pm curfew and can only serve alcohol with a “substantial meal”.

Lamb landlord Ade Clarke told the Tribune: “We are wet lead community pub. We don’t sell food and so we have to stay closed. By the end of this there will be a lot of healthy pubs who will go under. You read horror stories about one or two pubs causing havoc but most pubs have made a huge effort and there hasn’t been a lot of transmission in pubs. I think we are being scapegoated.”
