FIREFIGHTERS rescued a driver trapped in an overturned car yesterday (Wednesday).

West Hampstead blue watch fire crew, based in West End Lane, were called to the accident in College Crescent, near the junction with Buckland Crescent, Swiss Cottage, around 11am. A passer-by, who did not wish to be named, believed the car had caught the edge of the ramp of a loading lorry – and flipped over.

The driver, who was treated by ambulance teams who had crawled through the car boot, was removed by the fire crew and put in a stretcher. Police sealed off access to Finchley Road from Fitzjohn’s Avenue for two hours. Roads reopened around 1pm.
