Enrol with Westminster’s adult college and begin a new learning journey

Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) held their annual awards ceremony for learners on 10 July 2019 at Regent’s University in London. The glittering event was attended by more than 300 staff, learners, their friends and families and members of the WAES Board of Governors.

More than 100 awards were given out in 16 categories, in subject areas as diverse as Maths, English, Accounting, Health & Social Care, Fine Art, Ceramics, Floristry and many more. Learners were celebrated for their outstanding commitment, progress and achievement and a number of special WAES to Success Awards were given out to outstanding learners.

One of these, Abigail Murray, is now a new recruit in the Westminster City Council Economy Team. She received her award for her outstanding work as an apprentice at WCC from Greg Ward, Director of Economic Development & Regeneration at WCC, who also gave an interesting presentation about the economy and opportunities in Westminster.

Special awards were given for outstanding work in Fine Art, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Floristry, Fashion, Hair and Make-up and two national Festival of Learning awards were made to outstanding learners.

WAES’ thriving links with community partners was showcased by Union Dance’s Corrine Bougaard who spoke about the excellent work they have done with WAES over many years. The evening was closed by guest of honour, Alderman Grahame, who spoke about the importance of adult education and its impact on society Westminster.
