Don’t forget the wars in Europe
11 April, 2019
• BELOW Tulip Siddiq’s excellent letter (Mismanagement of negotiations with the EU has left us a laughing stock, April 4) is an anonymous letter (Beware who will step in here if democracy is ignored) about older people voting leave because they see the bigger picture.
At 70-plus I’m convinced we need to avoid any repeat of the violence of three European wars: 1870, 1914 and 1939. Whatever the defects of the European Union the need to work together as a team is clear.
Climate degradation, the designs of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, together with the rising power of India and China, show why we need to work together on environment, economy, trade and security.
