Police have released the image of a man who may have witnessed the start of a fire in Hampstead that claimed a young woman’s life.
London Fire Brigade investigators and detectives from Camden CID are investigating the cause of the fire, that destroyed much of the property in Daleham Gardens in the early hours of November 21.
The council-owned building contained 11 flats and most residents were evacuated unharmed, however 35-year-old Magdalena Fink was pronounced dead at the scene, having been pulled from the building by firefighters.
Police said the fire has been found to have started in a cupboard in a communal basement.
Footage of the fire, that was filmed by a resident and appeared to show the start of the blaze, was requested by the LFB after being published by the New Journal last month.
Detective Inspector Tom Kearney from the Central North Command Unit, said: “We are keeping and an open mind as to the circumstances of this tragic incident and still trying to discover the exact cause of the fire. For this reason we are appealing for anyone with information to contact police.
“We are also releasing a CCTV image of a man who was in the area around the time of the fire. We would ask this person, or anyone who knows or recognises them, to contact police. This man could have vital information that could assist the enquiry.”
