TRAIN passengers will light up a 12-foot Christmas tree as they donate to Oxfam at St Pancras International. But first DJ Sara Cox had a go, pressing the button at the big switch-on event at the station on Monday evening.

She was with the acrobatic cast of Cirque du Soleil (above) who are bringing a new show to the Royal Albert Hall in January. The tree, which will stand in the station until January 3, comes to life when visitors donate money to the charity.

“It’s such a thrill to switch on the lights,” said Ms Cox. “A better, fairer, kinder world – that’s my Christmas wish, and I hope it’s yours too. So please donate to help and see the tree light up with a special sparkling thank you.” There will be musical performances at the tree on December 1.
