Dispersal order placed across huge area as police fear ‘rising tensions’

It is aimed at deterring parties and anti-social behaviour

21 May, 2021

Camden Town and Primrose Hill are affected

A DISPERSAL order has been placed over Camden Town and Primrose Hill as police fear “rising tensions in the area”.

The Section 35 order, which gives police the power to exclude any person from the location for up to 48 hours, comes into effect at 6pm tonight (Friday).

It will then be lifted at 6pm on Sunday, May 23.

The Met Police said the measure, which covers a large section of the borough, “is in response to recent anti-social behaviour through alcohol and illegal drugs, leading to rising tensions in the area”.

This weekend is the first since venues opened up indoors on Monday.

The New Journal understands the order is a precautionary measure aimed at stopping expected parties from going ahead.
