Martyn Davies: eight goals in two matches

FORMIDABLE forward Martyn Davies scored four goals for the second game in a row at the weekend as newcomers Hackney Wednesday eased to a 9-1 victory over AFC Shooters in Division Two of the Camden Sunday League.

The rousing win means that Wednesday have now taken their eye-catching tally to 21 goals in just two matches, having beaten Surreal Madrid 12-3 on the opening day of the season.

Fergus McIntosh chipped in with two goals against Shooters, while Daniel Crockett and Joseph Benjamin were also on target as the pacesetters sent out an early-season warning to their title rivals.

Elsewhere in Division Two, goals from Andrew Davis, Justin Robson, Theo Lanyon and Baron Kufuor saw Surreal Madrid net their first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over St Peters.

Meanwhile Tom Hurleston scored twice as AFC Brasenose beat Sherfield Town 4-3.

Champions Crouch End Rangers shared the goals around as they beat Cobden Athletic to move to the top of the Division One table. John Addison, Tom Allnutt, Jon Taylor and Sam Williams all got their names on the score-sheet as Rangers ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

Clerkenwell Old Boys are second following their 5-2 victory over rivals Philippine FC. Daniel Attard calmly beat the goalkeeper from the penalty spot after Tom Salvoni was brought down in the box to give Clerkenwell a 1-0 advantage at the break.

In a scintillating second half showing, the Islington-based side went goal crazy with Attard going on to complete a hat-trick of penalties, while winger Ilyas Ismail stole the show with two super solo efforts.
