Construction pollutes… sign the petition and kill HS2
08 February, 2018
• CAMDEN Council seems to be focusing on blaming and punishing motorists for poisoning the air rather than offering new technology or encouraging and advising on how to make positive changes.
In fact one of the main problems is too much building construction. So it is remarkable that no mention whatsoever has been made regarding the devastating environmental impact that the HS2 construction work is causing, and will continue to cause, for the next 17 years.
This is one of the biggest threats to the health and wellbeing of us all in Camden.
Theresa May has ludicrously stated that her government’s aim is to be the first to leave the environment in a better state than it found it.
Yet it does not comply with High Court orders to cut illegal levels of pollution immediately and HS2 carry out mass destruction of our woods, forests, and wildlife habitats throughout the country.
With the recent callous destruction of trees in Camden, it is clear that they cannot be replaced by HS2 planting saplings in their place.
They insult our intelligence by suggesting the saplings – however many they plant – could ever replace our beautiful, healthy, majestic and mature, 150-year-old trees. They are denying Camden residents the benefits of their life-enhancing properties.
If just half of those people in Camden signed the petition, Cancel High Speed 2 immediately and repeal the 2013 and 2017 High Speed Rail Act, we could have the 100,000 signatures needed in no time, to help get rid, once and for all, of the threat of this £111billion, obsolete, waste of our money.
That money could be better spent on the ailing NHS. So please sign it, and pass it on to as many people as possible.
We also need our musicians and famous faces to speak out on our behalf. Let’s have a “Musicians Against HS2” concert, to make the public aware of our plight!
