Children over 3 to be encouraged to wear face coverings in Camden’s playgrounds
Six play areas to open this week following coronavirus lockdown
07 July, 2020
PARENTS and children over the age of three will be encouraged to wear face coverings when playgrounds start reopening following the coronavirus lockdown tomorrow (Wednesday).
Camden will remove the tape from equipment in six of its 197 play areas in parks and on estates, and then work on getting the rest up and running over a six week period. Some outdoor gyms will also be available for use.
The playgrounds that the council is aiming to open this week are at Swiss Cottage Open Space, St Martin’s Gardens in Camden Town, Waterlow Park in Highgate, Cantelowes Gardens, Talacre Gardens in Kentish Town and Kilburn Grange.
The use of face coverings will be promoted but only when safe to do so.
“The council will augment its current cleansing regime by ensuring high traffic touch points are cleansed as part of the weekly safety inspection,” a council report said. “Where staff are on site, more regular cleansing will take place.”
Families will be asked to come back at another time if play equipment is busy.
The first outdoor gyms to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) will be at Swiss Cottage, Cantelowes Gardens and Kilburn Grange.
