Champ ‘Digit’ Yigit drops in on Saints fighters
11 March, 2017 — By Steve Barnett
NEWLY-crowned European Super Lightweight Champion Anthony “Digit” Yigit surprised youngsters at St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club when he popped in to show off his shiny new belt.
The 25-year-old from Stockholm, who’s been training at the gym in Kentish Town for the past year, captured the vacant title last month following a unanimous points victory over Lenny Daws.
Showing his appreciation for all the support he gets at St Pancras, Yigit couldn’t wait to get back into the gym to share his belt with junior fighters, take pictures, and sign autographs.
Saints coach CJ Hussein said: “Anthony is a great role model for the kids. He competed at the London Olympics in 2012, and is now a European champion. He’s a reminder to all young fighters here that if they train hard and are disciplined, they can achieve their dreams.”
