11 June, 2017

MPs Tulip Siddiq and Keir Starmer read about their election victories, just hours after they were declared the winners

THE Camden New Journal was once again first on the streets with the general election results in the borough’s two parliamentary constituencies. This made us the first to get the full results and reaction in Hampstead and Kilburn and Holborn and St Pancras constituencies out in print and readers were rushing to get souvenir copies after a historic night in British political history.

We caught both MPs Keir Starmer and Tulip Siddiq, who were returned after a long night of counting with expanded majorities, reading copies as they took their supporters to the pub for campaign debriefs on Friday evening.

Ms Siddiq had noted the importance of a good local press in Camden during her victory speech and singled out the New Journal for its “comprehensive coverage” of this year’s election.
