Brexit raises real concerns in Camden
11 January, 2018
• CONSERVATIVE councillor Oliver Cooper is quoted as saying that “residents know that local councils don’t control foreign policy” in response to the former Camden Conservative group leader Andrew Marshall joining the Liberal Democrats (Ex-Tory leader joins Lib Dems, January 4).
Cllr Cooper is wrong to dismiss Cllr Marshall’s concerns about Brexit, which are shared with many residents in Hampstead. Brexit, which Cllr Cooper campaigned for, has thrown the futures of many European Union citizens within our community into uncertainty.
The local Tories can put their heads in the sand by discussing other issues such as crime, which their cuts to the police force have exacerbated, but they are out of touch with the very real concerns about Brexit in Camden.
