Brasserie announces surprise return to business

Almost exactly a year on from the day it shut its doors, Bellanger confirms it will reopen

07 August, 2020

A HIGH-END brasserie in Angel that is part of a chain of swish London restaurants is set to reopen next week.

Bellanger in Islington Green closed last year with Jeremy King, the chief executive of owners Corbin and King, lamenting at the time that “they didn’t quite catch the imagination of the community”.

But, in a surprise move, almost exactly one year on from the day it shut its doors it has confirmed that it will reopen again on August 14 – next Friday.

Mr King, speaking on the SoSAngel podcast, said that the “outpouring of grief” he saw when the closure was announced had been one of the “most emotional experiences I have ever had and I really reluctantly walked away from Islington”.

Mr King also runs Mayfair’s The Wolseley and Brasserie Zedel in Soho.
