WELTERWEIGHT Kian “Tec” Thomas has announced that he’s ready to make his long-awaited return to the ring – and what better way to mark such an occasion then to walk out at Wembley.

The Kentish Town boxer, who turned 26 last week, will face Jamie Carley over six rounds on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series on October 14.

The night of top boxing at Wembley Arena will see Kian share the stage with super middleweight champ George Groves, who will defend his WBA world title against Jamie Cox.

“This will be a great platform for me. It’s the biggest stage that I’ve been given so far to showcase my skills and demonstrate what I’m all about,” said Kian, who trains out of St Pancras Boxing Club, where he starred as an amateur.

“It’s at Wembley, it’s on the undercard of a world title fight. Everything about it is good.”

It will be the first time that Kian has stepped between the ropes since he beat Ryan Hardy at the York Hall in Bethnal Green way back in February. He had damaged his right hand in the build-up to the fight – not that you would have known it, as he stopped Hardy to make it seven wins out of seven in the professional ranks.

“I damaged my right hand and it took longer to heal than expected,” explained Kian. “I was still able to train. I just had to spar in bigger gloves and take extra care.

“I could have returned to action in September, but when the opportunity came up to fight at Wembley I knew that it was one worth waiting for.”

Tickets for the big fight night at Wembley Arena on October 14 cost £35. Anyone interested in supporting Kian can buy tickets from St Pancras Boxing Club in Talacre Road, Kentish Town.
